Originating from Germany, Mona graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany in 2008. She subsequently completed a part-time internship while concurrently writing a doctoral thesis at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany. Mona moved to Australia in 2009, where she worked in mixed practice and then in racetrack and private equine referral hospitals for several years. She became a member of the Equine Surgery chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientist in 2014, prior to commencing her residency in Equine Surgery at Murdoch University in Perth. During her residency Mona completed two Master degrees and was awarded for the presentation and publication of her research project on diagnostic local anaesthesia in lameness investigations by the European and American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS & ACVS), respectively. Mona became a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2018 and joined the busy surgical team at the renowned Dubai Equine Hospital thereafter. Mona enjoys all aspects of equine orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, despite or maybe even because of the many sleepless nights in the colic theater. She has a particular interest in equine fracture repair and considers herself lucky to be working in a hospital with such a high and varied case load.
