#013 - When it comes to describing RVN Abigail McGougan, there is one phrase that immediately comes to mind - "A little ray of sunshine". Abby oozes positiVETy and inspiration, and is incredibly passionate about veterinary nursing - which is really quite remarkable, given how this particular career was not necessarily something she was destined to do.
After finishing high school, Abby embarked on a marine science degree, however quickly realised this was not for her. She then started working at City Farmers as a sales assistant, and it was in this role that she was introduced to veterinary nursing. And the rest, as they say, is history.
During this episode, Abby chats candidly about the importance of giving veterinary nurses a voice; how lifelong learning and being provided with the opportunities for up-skilling and continuing education is just as crucial for nurses as it is for vets; and how relationships that are built on trust go an incredibly long way in enhancing team culture and improving efficiency within the practice. With her motivational approach to goal-setting and her passion for education and training, this remarkable young woman is an absolute asset to our veterinary profession.
