#006 - Sophie Comiskey is a multi-passionate veterinary nurse who has exchanged her scrubs and stethoscope for farm life. Although she continues to educate those in her community - no longer is the subject matter how to place an IV catheter in a colicking horse or how to suture in place a foal's feeding tube, but rather the importance of healthy soil, plants and animals in order to produce nutrient-dense food.
Despite originally wanting to become a veterinarian, Sophie found her calling as a veterinary nurse, and over her 10-year career has worked in both university referral hospitals and general practice. She has worked for a pharmaceutical company, and has been involved in major research projects; all of which demonstrate just how versatile being a veterinary nurse can be - provided you are open to saying YES to opportunity.
As a self-confessed "bush kid", Sophie has always been passionate about large animals, and horses especially, but never in her wildest dreams did she imagine she would elope to Mongolia and walk down the aisle on a * SPOILER ALERT * reindeer! Sophie is such a bright spark and has so much to share with our profession - you don't want to miss this episode!
